Wakefield is one of those courses that looks flat on paper but rewards you with something better: flow. Twisty singletrack, shallow stream crossings, and a course that keeps you moving and guessing made for a fantastic kick-off to the Spring Backyard Burn series. Over 300 runners turned out for the 23rd annual event, and from the first wave start to the final finishers, the energy was everything we love about trail racing in Northern Virginia.

A Note on Trail Photography
Wakefield's winding singletrack and dense tree cover mean there are stretches where visibility is limited. If your bib wasn't visible in a particular moment, your images may appear in the untagged "lost & found" portion of the gallery. It's worth a scroll—some of the strongest images live there.
