The late-fall edition of Schaeffer is always a study in contrasts—tight, twisting singletrack dropping you into long corridors of open farm fields, and that distinctive sweep of Button Farm’s landscape where runners become small sparks of color moving between rows of dry corn.

Saturday delivered that full spectrum. Cool air, strong sun, and a course that looks entirely different from its summer Blue Crab Bolt counterpart. What’s green and lush in July becomes golden, crisp, and wide-open in November—especially the half marathon, which strings together some of the best singletrack in Montgomery County with ridge-line farm paths you only get to run once a year.
